Sweet Jalebi Recipe. Jalebi, also known as Jilapi, zulbia, mushabak and zalabia, is a Middle Eastern sweet snack popular all over South and Western Asia. It is made by deep-frying maida flour (plain flour or all-purpose flour) batter in pretzel or circular shapes, which are then soaked in sugar syrup.

You can cook Sweet Jalebi using 9 ingredients and 10 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Sweet Jalebi

  1. You need 1 1/2 cup of refined flour.
  2. Take 1 tbsp of gram flour.
  3. Prepare 1/4 tsp of lemon juice.
  4. It’s 1/4 tsp of saffron strands.
  5. Prepare 2 cups of sugar.
  6. You need As required of Clarified butter (ghee) for deep frying.
  7. Take For of garnish:.
  8. Prepare 1/2 tsp of cardamon powder.
  9. Take 1/4 cup of almond and pistachio.

Pour batter into a ketchup dispensing bottle.To make sugar syrup, melt the sugar with the rosewater in a small saucepan and boil to get a one thread consistency.Jalebi is a spiral shaped crisp & juicy sweet that is made of all purpose flour, gram flour and sugar syrup.To make jalebi, firstly a batter is prepared using flour.

Sweet Jalebi step by step

  1. Mix lemon juice and a cup of warm water..
  2. Now add refined flour,gram flour to the water and lemon juice. Use your hands to mix..
  3. Keep the bowl in a warm place for 8 minutes. Cover it with a lid and let it ferment..
  4. After it gets fermented, again mix the batter with your hands..
  5. Now prepare sugar syrup using sugar and 1.5 cups of water. Boil on a high flame in a deep flame..
  6. Prepare mixture of saffron strands and 1 tbsp water. Add half of it to the sugar syrup and remaining to the batter..
  7. Spread the JALEBI cloth on a large bowl and pour the batter..
  8. Pipe the batter in coil shape in a hot ghee. Fry it on medium flame till the jalebis are golden brown from the both sides..
  9. Transfer the jalebis immediately from ghee to sugar syrup. Let it remain in the syrup for a minute..
  10. Pull it out and serve it. Garnish it with cardamon powder and mixed nuts.

Now, add ghee and food colour in the above mixture.To make a thick batter add hung curd and water.Mix well until it is thick but has a slightly flowing consistency.

Then it is fermented for several hours to acquire a unique fermented flavor.Jalebi is not something you would want to indulge in everyday.First pour small amount of oil+ghee.If you add more oil it will be tough to drop jalebi's.You can add oil later if you need it.
