Ingredients of Chocolate Idli with Coconut -palm jaggery filling
- Prepare 1/2 cup of grated coconut.
- It’s 1/4 cup of palm-jaggery.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder.
- Take 1/4 cup of sugar.
- Prepare 2 cup of rice.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of whole or split urad dal.
- It’s 1/4 cup of thick poha.
Chocolate Idli with Coconut -palm jaggery filling step by step
- Pick & rinse the rice,rinse the poha & add to the rice.Add water & mix well, cover & keep the rice & poha to soak for 4 to 5 hours..
- In a separate bowl rinse the urad dal a couple of times.Soak the urad dal separately for 4,5hours..
- Making Idli batter- Grind the rice,urad dal till you get a smooth & fluffy batter.Add salt & mix well..
- Cover & let the batter ferment for 8 to 9 hours..
- After the fermentation process is over,the idli batter will double in size & rise..
- Steaming idlis- Grease the idli moulds with oil.Pour half a ladleful of the idli batter into each mould..
- Top it with the coconut,jaggery mix..
- Mix little batter with chocolate powder..
- Cover half of the filling with plain idli batter & half with the chocolate idle batter..
- Steam the idlies in a steamer.Steam for 10-12 mints until the idlies are done..
- Serve the steaming hot idlies with coconut chutney..
