  1. Take 1 kg of Chicken with bones.
  2. Make ready 2 of Onion medium finely chopped.

  5. Make ready 1 tbsp of Coriander powder.
  6. Prepare 1 tbsp of Paprika powder ( or the Kashmiri Chilly powder will do ).

Cape Malay Chicken Curry step by step

  1. Clean the chicken and keep it aside..
  2. . Using a motor and pistil or a grinder, grind all the spice mix coarsely and keep aside..
  3. . In a heavy bottom pan, heat some oil and saute the onions and ginger till soft..
  4. . To this, add in the coriander powder, turmeric powder,pepper powder, and the spice mix and mix well..
  5. . Once the powders are toasted, add in the tomato puree and bring it boil..
  6. . Then add the chicken and mix well till all the pieces are coated well. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 15-20 mins..
  7. . After 20 mins, add in chopped garlic, brown sugar and lemon juice and mix well. Add salt at this stage and mix well..
  8. . Cover and let it cook for another 15 minutes or till the meat is tender..
  9. . Check for seasoning and turn of flame..
  10. .Garnish with finely chopped coriander or parsley leaves and serve along with hot rice..
