Semolina upma Recipe. Essentially, upma is a thick, porridge-like breakfast dish that is made from coarse rice flour or semolina that has been dry-roasted. Its extremely versatile, so don't be afraid to experiment with ingredients.

Ingredients of Semolina upma

  1. You need 2 1/2 cup of semolina.
  2. Take 1 tsp of urad dal.
  3. It’s 1 tsp of chana dal.
  4. Take 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
  5. It’s 5-6 of cashews.
  6. Prepare 2-3 of dry red chillies.
  7. It’s 2 of green chillies.
  8. It’s 1 of Small piece of ginger.
  9. Take 1 of medium onion.
  10. Take 4-5 tsp of Oil.
  11. Prepare 1 tsp of ghee.
  12. You need as per taste of Salt.

Add mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal and onion.Add semolina and saute until light brown.Add remaining ingredients, except coconut, and mix well.Wheat Semolina Upma: -Wheat semolina is another healthier option when compared to white semolina.

  1. Add oil in a pan,when it is hot add mustard seeds,urad dal,chanadal,curry leaves, cashews,dry chilli..
  2. Then add onion sliced,green chilli, ginger.Sort till onions are transparent. Then add grated fresh coconut which enhances south Indian flavour.Sort for a while.Then add semolina sort till it is aromatic. Then add veg such as green peas,carrot..
  3. To this add boiling water with salt required.Also at this stage add ghee which makes uppuma soft.Water level should be just just above the mixture. If you prefer little loose uppuma add more water. Close the lid and allow to cook for some time. Stir in between. When upma turns to soft texture take it and serve..
